Laura was friendly, and I liked getting familiar with the CuadraStar database. I choose this project because I wanted experience cataloging. It was interesting to see how a one-person archive is run, and I'm familiar with CuadraStar if I need to use it again. This experience made me realize that I'd love to live in Chicago if I could find a job there. |

We have the opportunity for one student to participate in a number of activities with our reference department. The student will work on our LibGuides project creating new research guides or translating our old paper guides into the new LibGuides format. The student will also have time for observation of library instruction sessions (depending on what is scheduled that week) and for staffing of our reference desk. This is an excellent way for a student interested in library work to learn a bit more about academic libraries! Some familiarity with reference concepts is necessary whether from work experience or coursework. Experience with the LibGuides software is not necessary but the student should be comfortable learning the simple tool with guidance. | ||
