The Cloisters, the branch of The Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted to the art of medieval Europe, is located in Fort Tryon Park in northern Manhattan. The library features approximately fifteen thousand monographs and sixty serial titles highlighting art and architecture of the Middle Ages along with medieval history and gardening. The Archives of The Cloisters houses nearly fifty collections; included are materials relating to the history of the museum and the scholarly and business papers of medieval art historians and dealers. The Library’s collection is catalogued in Watsonline, the shared database of the libraries of the Metropolitan Museum. It can be consulted at: http://library.metmuseum.org. |

Student would assist in a scanning and digitization project of three bound photo albums from 1938 documenting the Cloisters at the time of its opening. Student would work with the librarian and library associate and be expected to have experience scanning bound fragile items on a flatbed scanner. | |
