The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) is a leading privacy and civil liberties organization, based in Washington, D.C., working to protect the public interest and to promote the Public Voice in decisions concerning the future of the Internet. EPIC pursues public interest litigation, conducts public education, testifies in Congress, organizes conferences, coordinates grassroots advocacy, and publishes books, reports, and an online newsletter. EPIC also maintains several well-regarded web sites, such as privacy.org, thepublicvoice.org, and privacycoalition.org.

Student should have policy or legal focus or experience. EPIC is a fast paced policy environment, and one of several projects may be occuring. EPIC clerks work updating policy pages, writing memoranda, EPIC publications, agency rulemakings, or other advocacy pieces. The student should have an interest in privacy, civil liberties and emerging internet issues.

The SI Alternative Spring Break is open to graduate students of the University of Michigan's School of Information. Undergraduates looking for Alternative Spring Break opportunities should look into the University of Michigan Alternative Spring Break program administered by U-M's Ginsberg Center.
