Developing Radio Partners (DRP) is dedicated to supporting independent radio stations in young democracies through professional development in journalism, programming, station management, and finance. We are a non-profit organization working in the field of media assistance for international development. Our work is focused on developing community owned and operated radio stations. We do this in conjunction with a variety of international NGOs, government entities and private organizations to develop local expertise and encourage community engagement.

This one-week project will consist of compiling research materials useful to the work of Developing Radio Partners. This would be research related to the organization's future business/project development in the areas of community information/journalism/media development specific to the use of radio and related technologies. This work will focus on radio's use in relation to other ICT4D efforts, the proven aspects of radio's role in international development and the development of independent media on an international level.

Deliverables expected at the end of the week include but are not limited to: topic summaries, organized collection of reference/research materials (database or otherwise based on the student's technical and other skills and suggestions), and a list of suggested areas for further research. The full scope of the week's work will be decided based upon the student's interests and skills and where they align with DRP's work, needs and goals. Developing Radio Partners is at a transition and growth point as an organization.

We require a person who is flexible, motivated and has experience working in small, start-up environments. We prefer someone who has had some past experience in the international development, media/media assistance, international journalism and/or radio fields. Good research and writing skills are essential preferably related to the social sciences fields. Additionally, DRP is expecting an office move prior to the ASB week. The student should be prepared to bring and work on their own laptop computer. This project would be well suited for those with IEMP and CIC related interests and experience..
